Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.
Benjamin Franklin

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:6-7

Ups and Downs

The title describes our weekend. We headed to Indy to spend some much needed, well deserved family time together. My sister was in Hawaii, so her and her husband were kind enough to lend us their home.....very nice! We got down there Friday night, ate out, and got Stella off to bed. Then I got to relax while Brian watched some basketball. Very nice.

Stella started off with a cough that continued to get worse, so she started breathing treatments Saturday morning. We were very glad we brought her nebulizer along with us! Saturday was a beautiful sunny shiny day....so we got to go on a walk (where we were able to pick up a little white night standish table for FREE) and then headed over the Hamilton Town Center to do some shopping....we got lots at Old Navy where I was able to score a 30% off coupon! Then concluded our evening with dinner at El Rodeo...yummy Mexican with a yummy Sangrita (good suggestion, Lace!)

Sunday wasn't too bad, but not as nice. We stayed in most of the day. Stella wasn't feeling well, and it was just too cold to go anywhere. Brian was craving seafood so we headed back to Goodfella's for the second time!

Monday. Reality set in why were in Indy....not just for a little vacation, but to take Stella to Riley's. It was a rainy, yucky day. We arrived at the hospital and the doctor and nurses were very nice. Luckily, my sister let us use their portable DVD player....it was a life saver during her EKG, echo, and while we were talking to the doctor. It definitely took the both of us to keep her entertained while trying to discuss the next step, which is surgery. We knew it was coming, but it seems that each appointment brings us that much closer. We discuss it more and more in depth which is very helpful, but yet makes it very scary as well.

We need to know the worse case scenario to be prepared, but can you ever really prepare yourself for the worse case? I don't think so.

We learned that along with her VSD she has some other minor things going on that may or may not be repaired during this surgery as well. Some will depend on what the surgeon finds once he is in there. More than likely she will have to have another surgery down the road to repair a minor obstruction that isn't causing problems now, but will need removed. Even if they remove it now, it is likely to grow back and need removed again.

After her appointment, breathing treatment in the waiting room (I am so glad we were somewhere that was child centered and patient!), and fighting traffic.....we decided to treat ourselves to The Cheesecake Factory and wait for traffic to ease up. Yum. It was soooo good. I tell you what....stress eating is not good on the diet!!

Thank you all for the prayers!!
