Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.
Benjamin Franklin

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:6-7

Ups and Downs

The title describes our weekend. We headed to Indy to spend some much needed, well deserved family time together. My sister was in Hawaii, so her and her husband were kind enough to lend us their home.....very nice! We got down there Friday night, ate out, and got Stella off to bed. Then I got to relax while Brian watched some basketball. Very nice.

Stella started off with a cough that continued to get worse, so she started breathing treatments Saturday morning. We were very glad we brought her nebulizer along with us! Saturday was a beautiful sunny shiny day....so we got to go on a walk (where we were able to pick up a little white night standish table for FREE) and then headed over the Hamilton Town Center to do some shopping....we got lots at Old Navy where I was able to score a 30% off coupon! Then concluded our evening with dinner at El Rodeo...yummy Mexican with a yummy Sangrita (good suggestion, Lace!)

Sunday wasn't too bad, but not as nice. We stayed in most of the day. Stella wasn't feeling well, and it was just too cold to go anywhere. Brian was craving seafood so we headed back to Goodfella's for the second time!

Monday. Reality set in why were in Indy....not just for a little vacation, but to take Stella to Riley's. It was a rainy, yucky day. We arrived at the hospital and the doctor and nurses were very nice. Luckily, my sister let us use their portable DVD player....it was a life saver during her EKG, echo, and while we were talking to the doctor. It definitely took the both of us to keep her entertained while trying to discuss the next step, which is surgery. We knew it was coming, but it seems that each appointment brings us that much closer. We discuss it more and more in depth which is very helpful, but yet makes it very scary as well.

We need to know the worse case scenario to be prepared, but can you ever really prepare yourself for the worse case? I don't think so.

We learned that along with her VSD she has some other minor things going on that may or may not be repaired during this surgery as well. Some will depend on what the surgeon finds once he is in there. More than likely she will have to have another surgery down the road to repair a minor obstruction that isn't causing problems now, but will need removed. Even if they remove it now, it is likely to grow back and need removed again.

After her appointment, breathing treatment in the waiting room (I am so glad we were somewhere that was child centered and patient!), and fighting traffic.....we decided to treat ourselves to The Cheesecake Factory and wait for traffic to ease up. Yum. It was soooo good. I tell you what....stress eating is not good on the diet!!

Thank you all for the prayers!!

Hmmmm.....

I feel like blogging, but I don't know what to blog about! Geesh! We had a crazy busy weekend. I am helping plan our 10 year reunion....yes, 10 years! Seriously, how did 10 years go by so quickly. Anyway, it went really well and fast. Then we ventured to Tascha's for a little get together and cookout. Again, a fun time. Then on Sunday Brian stayed home to get stuff down around the house while I went back down south to do a quick visit with the Butcher's before Stella and I headed to a baby shower of a friend.

So overall, everything we did was fun....but just go, go, go! Then to top it all of we had the time change this weekend, which I really don't mind. I really do enjoy the daylight in the evening :)

I am hoping this week goes by as quickly as today did. It was a pretty good Monday. Maybe it is because this is the last week before spring break, I don't know, but I will take it!

Well I guess that is it for now...hopefully more to come later this week!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

Dear Stella,
This is a short video of your first year of life. It went by so quickly. We look back at these pictures and remember taking every single one of them. The ones in the operating room, the ones in the nicu, the ones our first week together, and every one thereafter.

You gave us quite a scare in the beginning. It all happened so quickly and before we knew it you were taken away from us and on a whole different floor of the hospital. I remember telling your daddy I was so scared to go up and meet you. I was afraid I wouldn't recognize you because I barely got to see you. I was afraid you would already prefer the nurses over your mom! He reassured me non of that would happen. He had to be the strong one for the both of us! We only got to look and barely touch you for the first two days. We just wanted to scoop you up and love on you!

We were so excited the moment we got the news that we could actually hold and feed you! The moment I held you my fears disappeared. My heart grew twice the size it was and somehow loved more than it ever has. I have never seen your daddy more proud. The nurses made over you everyday!

Then we got the news about your little heart...it broke our heart, but we knew God had a plan and would take care of all three of us. Throughout the first year of your life we learned more than we ever thought we would have to about the heart. You had to go through so much your first year of life, and I am sure there is much more to follow. Through it all however, you were and are such a trooper. You bring tears to our eyes and don't even realize it. We cry and you laugh and smile back.

You have more people praying for you than you even know. You have taught us so much. We have learned never to take anything for granted and to be thankful for everything. You have reminded us to place all of our trust in God and to hand Him all our worries. Your smile and giggle reminds us of these things everyday. We love you baby girl, happy birthday!!

Birthday Bash

Stella's birthday is this coming Wednesday, but we started the celebration early with a birthday party with our families this Saturday! There is no doubt this little girl is loved by everyone...grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins! Our house now officially looks like a toy store. Thank you everyone for all of her presents and a great time! The weather was perfect....Stella even had to put on some shades :)
